Privacy Policy for AlQuraan
Last Updated: April 2026
Intellara Labs ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how AlQuraan handles your information when you use the AlQuraan application (the "Service").
AlQuraan is built with a privacy-first philosophy. We do not track you, run analytics, or include advertising SDKs. Your bookmarks, highlights, memorization markers, notes, dhikr counts, reading progress, and preferences stay on your device.
1. Information We Collect
AlQuraan does not collect personal information on our servers. The following data is handled entirely on your device unless explicitly noted:
- Locally Stored Data: Bookmarks, highlights, memorization markers, personal notes, dhikr/tasbih counts, reading plans, last-read position, downloaded chapters, theme, font sizes, selected reciter and translations — all stored locally on your device.
- Location (optional): If you tap "Use current location" for Prayer Times or open the Qibla compass, the app reads your device location to calculate prayer times and the direction to the Kaaba. Location is used in-memory only and is never transmitted to our servers.
- City Lookup (optional): If you search for a city for prayer times, the city query is sent to our prayer-times provider to retrieve schedules. We do not store this query.
- Network Requests: The app fetches Quran text, translations, hadith content, audio recitations, prayer times, and the Hijri calendar from third-party providers (see Section 4). These requests are made directly from your device.
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, account identifiers, advertising identifiers, or any other personally identifiable information.
2. Permissions
AlQuraan may request the following permissions on your device:
- Location: Requested only when you explicitly tap Qibla or "Use current location" for prayer times. You may decline or revoke this permission at any time without losing access to other features (city search remains available).
- Magnetometer / Sensors: Used by the Qibla compass to determine real-time direction. No sensor data leaves your device.
- Internet: Required to fetch Quran content, hadith collections, audio recitations, and prayer schedules. Once chapters are downloaded for offline use, no internet is required to read them.
- Storage: Used to save offline downloads and your personal data (bookmarks, notes, etc.) on your device.
- Vibration / Haptics: Used by the tasbih counter for tactile feedback. No data is collected.
3. How We Use Information
Because we do not collect personal information on our servers, we do not profile, target, or analyze users. Locally stored data is used solely to:
- Provide app functionality (resume reading, restore bookmarks, track memorization, count dhikr).
- Display prayer times for your selected location.
- Show qibla direction relative to your current position.
- Track your progress through the Arabic learning path.
4. Third-Party Content Providers
AlQuraan respectfully sources its content from the following providers. When the app fetches content, your device communicates directly with these services and their respective privacy policies apply:
- Quran text and translations: quranenc.com
- Prayer times and Hijri calendar: aladhan.com
- Hadith collections: the open-source hadith-api dataset (fawazahmed0)
- Audio recitations: everyayah.com
We do not share any personal information with these providers. Standard network metadata (such as your IP address) may be visible to them when your device requests their content, as is the case with any internet-connected app.
5. No Tracking, No Advertising, No Analytics
AlQuraan contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting third parties that identify users, and no tracking of any kind. We do not sell, rent, or share your data — because we do not have it.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
All personal data lives on your device. You can clear it at any time by clearing the app's storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling the app. There is no server-side data to request the deletion of.
7. Children's Privacy
AlQuraan is suitable for all ages (rated Everyone / 4+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is safe for family use.
8. Security
Because personal data stays on your device, its security is governed by your device's protections (lock screen, biometrics, OS-level encryption). Network requests to content providers use HTTPS where supported.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
